This plant may be configured as a Drum Mixer, or a Batch Drier with a Pugmill Mixer. The standard chassis consists of aggregate hoppers with belt feeders, mounted above the feed conveyor. A drying drum with batch retention ring or mixing paddles, diesel oil burner and hydraulic drive system powered by a diesel engine.
A bitumen decanting unit is mounted on the main chassis. The chamber is capable of melting and decanting one 200 liter drum into the heating chamber. A chain hoist with drum lifting gear is provided together with a hinged cover to ensure heat retention around the drum.
?? The drying cylinder is a parallel flow design with burner at the feed end. This system prevents overheating of heated material stored in the storage ring, reduces fire hazard in the paddle mixer and allows recycling of a proportion of old pavement without damage to the original bitumen.
A rotary storage ring, which will store and maintain one batch at temperature without overheating, is located at the delivery end of the drum and is fitted with Vee flights and discharge batching chute.
The dryer is supported on two steel roller tracks running on supporting trunnion rollers mounted in self-aligning, anti- friction bearings.
