While utilising earlier technology than a counterflow drum mixer, the parallel flow design still has it's applications. The simplicity of design, operation and maintenance coupled with a lower chassis count make it cost effective as a mobile or transportable plant for use in sparsely populated areas. Additionally it may be used in certain low temperature drying applications other than Asphalt production.
